Mr. William N. Herring, 92, of Dunn, NC passed away on March 16, 2020 at 11:47 A.M. Funeral services were held graveside at Tazewell Cemetery, Georgia. Joey Wells officiating. Burial followed the service in Tazewell Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Randy Hauk, Joseph Cogburn, Joey Wells, Bobby Smith, Jerry Nelson, and . The family received friend's graveside at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 21, 2020.
Mr. Herring was born June 30, 1927, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to William Wilburn Herring and Thelma Ruth Davis, Herring. He served over 20 years in the United States Airforce and retired as Tech Sergeant in 1972. He was deployed twice to serve in the Vietnam and Philippine Wars. He was also a member of the Shriners. He was a great provider for his family and close family knew him as a prankster, mainly to his Aunt Mable and Sister Jimmie, and could tell you some of the funniest jokes. He was a devoted friend, husband, daddy, G-pa, and GG-pa.
He is preceded in death by Carole, his wife of 58 years. He is survived by four daughters, Robin Busby of Raleigh, NC, Patricia Bailey of Macon, GA, Valerie Herring of Ft. Valley, GA, and Summer Herring of Bardstown, KY; five grandchildren, Tiffaney and Joe Cogburn, Randy Hauk, Joshua Bailey, Autumn Bailey, and Aiden Parks; and seven great-grandchildren, Zoie Decker, Madyson Decker, Dysan Hauk, Jace Hauk, Lillian Bailey, Kora Hontz, and Oaklynn Hauk. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Way-Watson Funeral Home of Buena Vista, GA, made the arrangements.
