William Robert Groves Jr., a2ectionately known as Charlie, Chase Vape, Charlie Jr., and Uncle Jr., was born on May 11, 1969, in Greensboro, North Carolina. He entered eternal rest, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of love.

William Jr. was born to the late Rossie “Granny Groves” Goodson and the late William “Charlie” Groves Sr. He was educated in the Guilford County Public School System. Throughout his working years, he was employed with Champion, Comfort Air, BD, and Ashley Furniture. While he held many positions, his true passion was being a mobile mechanic, where his skills, dedication, and willingness to help others were well known.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Lozzie Lemon, and William Douglas Groves and Alva Mae Fowler-Groves. He was also preceded in death by his beloved aunts and uncles: Joyce Session, Ruby McLamb, Ronnie Groves, James Lemon Jr., and Dennis Crosland.

William Jr. leaves to cherish his precious memories his three sons, Timothy Williams Jr., Chase Johnson, and Amarion Johnson; and his loving and devoted high school sweetheart, Portia Johnson, of the home.

He also leaves behind three sisters, Lois Solomon (Anthony), Wanda Groves, and Princess Groves; two brothers, Timothy Groves and Antonio Groves. His memory will also be treasured by his aunts, Lois Woodard, Barbara Evans, Louise Smith, Margaret Woodard, Beverly Groves, Evelyn Wilson (Conrad), and Debra Pettiway (John); and his uncles, Conrad Groves (Linda), Ricky Groves, and Fontelle Groves (Francine).

William Jr. is further survived by four grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and a loving host of family and friends.
