Sherlock Holder

Sherlock Holder was born on May 15th, 1930 in Johnston County in a Christian and loving home. He attended Johnston County Training School and family church services at, Johnston Piney Grove Baptist Church.. After school he married the former Helen Christine McClamb and they moved to Buffalo New York. He remained in Buffalo for 33 years and was employed as a Supervisor at Bethlehem Steel Corporation. Upon their retirement ; he and his wife of 65 years returned to Smithfield, North Carolina and joined St. Amanda Baptist Church, where he served as a Trustee. He served as a mentor to many of his friends and family members. He was preceded in death by his father John Henry and his mother Hannah Sanders Holder. Brothers preceding him in death were Tommy D. Sanders and Fairlow ( Peter) Holder and Willie Jay Holder and Johnny B Holder. Brother in Law George McClamb , Sisters In Law Lois Hodges and Doris Howell. He leaves to morn his loving and devoted wife Helen of the home. His son Sherill of Sumter, SC. His son Larry (Kay) of the home. His sisters Ethel Puckett, and Elsie Sanders of Clayton NC, Mary Helen Auguste, and Sofronia Holder of New York, NY, Anne Marie Holder of Smitheld, NC, and his brother Bert Holder (Ossie) of Buffalo, NY. His Sisters-in-law Eva Merritt of Petersburg VA, Charlotte Morris of Raleigh, NC, Vera Stevens of Bualo NY, Betty McClamb of Buffalo, NY and Brothers-in-Law David and Louis McClamb, both of Buffalo, NY. He also leaves to morn Five grandsons: Derrick, Frederick, Larry, and Noah; 9 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephew
