REFLECTIONS
Roger Dale Barnes was born on April 21, 1960. He departed this earthly life on Monday, June 1, 2026, at Kindred Healthcare in Greensboro, North Carolina. Roger was the son of the late Nellie Gray Foye Parker and Roy Rogers Barnes, Jr. He received his education through the Johnston County school system and attended Harrison High School in Selma, North Carolina. Roger was known for living life on his own terms and in his own unique way. Family and friends remember him as a fun-loving individual who enjoyed sharing laughter and good times with those around him. His presence and sense of humor left lasting memories with all who knew him. Above all, Roger was a proud father, grandfather, and greatgrandfather who cherished his family. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; his parents; two brothers, Reginald Barnes and Milton Barnes; one sister, Shelia Gray Barnes; and one daughter, Lakesha O'Neal. His memory will be forever cherished by his children: Charnise Shaneil Jones (Calvin), Latoya Wright, Roger Darrell Barnes, Jasmine Barnes, and Sharmel Dupree; seventeen grandchildren; one greatgranddaughter; five brothers, Roy Rawlings, Eric Barnes, Kevin Alderman, Tyrone Perry, and Terrance Barnes (Sharon); two sisters, Velvet Parker and Sophelia Barnes; two devoted aunts, Joyce Williams and Diane Foye; one uncle, Charles Gerwin; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends who will continue to cherish his memory. A life remembered is a legacy that never fades, and Roger's memory will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
