Martha Denton, 74, of Littleton, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 1, 2025. Born on August 6, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Walter Henry Brewer and Leatrice Clark Brewer.

Martha was a proud graduate of Aurelian Springs High School, class of 1969, and went on to earn her LPN certification from Halifax Tech the following year. Her commitment to healthcare spanned more than four decades, during which she dedicated herself to the well-being of others. Even after her official retirement, she continued to support those in need as a private duty sitter, demonstrating her lifelong passion for caregiving.

Preceding her in death were her beloved husband of 53 years, Lawrence A. Denton, Jr., her parents, and her brother John Brewer and sister-in-law Kathy Brewer. Martha is survived by her loving niece, several cousins, friends, and her cherished cats.

An active member of Bear Swamp Baptist Church, Martha found joy in community. She had a deep love for history, participating in various historical women's organizations.

She had been a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and was a very active and a long term member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy serving at multiple levels including Chapter president for Roanoke Rapids 2332 and holding three North Carolina Division offices. In recognition of her service, she was honored with the title of Honorary Division President by the NC UDC.

Martha was known for her nurturing spirit, always seeking the best for those around her. She was an avid reader, discovering pleasure and adventure in the pages of her books, and she was particularly fond of cats, embodying the affectionate spirit of a true 'cat lady.'

Martha lived a simple life filled with love for her family and friends. She will be remembered as a steadfast friend, always there for those fortunate enough to know her.

A memorial service will be held at Bear Swamp Baptist Church, located at 15227 Hwy 48, Littleton, on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 11:00 AM, with a reception and visitation to follow in the church’s Fellowship Hall.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial gifts be made to Bear Swamp Baptist Church, designated for the window restoration fund, or to a charity of your choice.
