Margaret Stancil Perry

Margaret Stancil Perry was born on February 11, 1947, to James C. Stancil and Gayzell Holder Stancil. Margaret answered his call on May 29, 2025, at SECU Hospice House, surrounded by family and friends. Margaret received her primary and secondary education at Richard B. Harrison. She went on to attend Johnston Community College, where she received an associate degree in nursing, becoming the first black nurse to graduate from the academic institution. She served as a Licensed Nurse Practitioner (LPN) at various hospitals, rehabilitation centers, mental and correctional institutions across Johnston and Wake counties. In addition to her nursing career, she was a licensed minister. She was a member of Sylvia Chapel Missionary Baptist Church for many years and recently joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Margaret enjoyed reading and studying, teaching, cooking, gardening (flowers only), decorating, hosting , entertaining and traveling. She had a special fondness for frogs and jewelry. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Billy Ray Perry, one son, Weldon Recardo Adams, and one granddaughter, Serenity Barton. Margaret is survived by three sons, Wayne (Ella) Adams [Raleigh, NC], Walton Randolph Adams [Middlesex, NC] and Cleavon Barton [Lafayette, LA], nine grandchildren – Rachel Giles, Ranada Fields, Wayne Adams, Jr., Margaret Ella Adams, Margaret Hazel Adams, Crystal Lee, Janeice Cashmere Barton, Gewels Barton and Envy Barton. and ten great-grandchildren. She also leaves to cherish her memories two brothers - Toney (Saundra) Stancil [Middlesex, NC] and James Ralphford (Janet) Stancil [Princeton, NC], four sisters – Mary Louise Scarboro [Middlesex, NC], Linda (Chris) Leathers [Raleigh, NC], Brenda (James) Lewis [Selma, NC], and Sheila Sanders [Middlesex, NC], one bonus daughter – Pamela Wells, a special classmate and life long friend, Pete Richardson, and a host of aunt, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
