Loyal Ross

April 15, 1941 — October 11, 2020

Life Reflections"Grief can be so hard, but our special memories help us cope" Please hold onto your fondest memories of Loyal Ross...

Loyal Ross was a witty, loving, and resourceful husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. He was born on April 15, 1941, in Bruce, Mississippi to Floyd Ross and Molly Ann Ross. He transitioned home on October 11, 2020. Loyal was the youngest of two brothers, Floyd Jr., North, and sister Ann. At age 14, he joined Ann and her husband, Jerry Brown, in St. Louis, Missouri where he attended Soldan High School. He worked many jobs and honed his skills, and later built companies including a car wash, classic car restoration and sales, and taxi cab businesses. He also joined the St. Louis County Police Department working his way from detective to lieutenant. He often told stories of the fun had at the car wash and breaking the big case during his time on the force. In 1976 Loyal moved to Hollywood, California, and planted himself in a hub of entertainers and horseracing notables where he also became a thoroughbred racehorse owner. He soon became known for his car repair skills and later opened an automotive repair center. In 1995 Loyal met and fell in love with Sandy Moore, they wed in 1998. She shared his entrepreneurial spirit and they began investing in rental properties around the country. In 2004 Loyal and Sandy retired and briey moved to Florida, but later settled in the Raleigh, North Carolina area. Loyal enjoyed his friends and family, working, horseracing, and telling stories of his Hollywood comrades. He especially cherished his relationship with his son Dwaine and niece Dot. He was known for his colloquial expressions and witty remarks. During his later years, he often accompanied Sandy on volunteer assignments delivering meals, helping out at food banks, and providing transportation for new immigrants in the Raleigh area--all while talking about his Hollywood days. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 22 years, Sandy Ross; daughter, Sharon Gordon Greer (Lewis), CA; son, Dwaine Ross, MO; grandson, DeAndre Ross, CA; grandson, Jay Ross (Princess), MO; step-daughter, Theresa Reynolds, MO; two great-grandsons; niece, Dorothy Lowery, CA; great-nephew, Davon Lowery, CA; great-niece, Savannah Sims, CA; niece, Sabrina Je>erson (Lionel), NC; great-niece, Maya Muldrow, NC; great-nephew, Noah Muldrow, NC; nephew, Brian Bush, MD; great-nephew, Miles Kountz, CA;
sister-in-law, Brenda Bush (Barry Simms), NC; brother-in-law, Ronald Moore (Sharon Lauzier), AZ; father-in-law, Quincy Watson; and a host of nephews, cousins, and dearest friends. Loyal was preceded in death by his parents and siblings.
