With heavy hearts and deep love, we announce the peaceful passing of Lestea Sanders at the age of 75 who departed his life at the Durham VA Healthcare Center following a period of declining health. He was born on September 12, 1950 to the late Leo Sanders and Christine H. Sanders, of which he was one of five brothers. Lestea was born and raised in Smithfield, Nc where he built the foundation of his life. He attended Short Journey in his elementary and middle school years and later graduated from Smithfield Selma Senior High School in 1970. In his early years he joined Wesley Chapel AME. He served in the United States Army, employed several years at Burlington Mills, and Conagra Foods until his decline in health. He had a deep appreciation for old classic cars and took great pride in keeping his vehicle spotless making sure they always had that shine, he love cookouts and family gatherings where he would cut up and boy did he love hid oldies but goodies music and he would sit on the porch and listen to them. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Jimmy Ray Sanders and Leon Sanders. He leaves to cherish his memory beloved wife Lucy Sanders of Raleigh Nc, his two daughters Kimberly Sanders of Garner Nc and Tomeka Sanders of Selma, Nc and his cherished grandchildren’s kiana, Sterling, Zaquan, Alexus and Edward J. Mosley who brought immense joy and pride. Also he leaves precious memories brothers Paul Sanders(Rebecca) Leo Sanders, a special sister in law(Jerelene Sanders) and a host of nieces and nephews.
