Leonard Russell Sims

Leonard Russell Sims "Russell AKA DOC" was born in Johnston County to the late Jessie Mae Benton Sims and Preston Sims on November 27, 1966. He departed this earthly life at home and entered into his rest on November 30, 2020. Russell Sims was educated by Johnston county public school system and Wake county school system. He attended Richard B. Harrison, Smithfield Selma, and Athens Drive. On February 14, 2013, he married his devoted wife Tychinna Morgan Sims. He was a skilled mechanic, an outstanding athlete, an amazing cook, a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. Russell was a faithful activist in the community his passion was gathering the youths to engage in athletic activities who loved the game of basketball. He is proceeded in death by his sister Judith Sims and mother Jessie Mae Benton Sims He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Tychinna M.Sims; one daughter, Lucretia Williams of Selma, NC; three sons, Decarrius Tinsley of Selma, NC, Leonard R. Morgan (Siquoia) of Selma, NC, and Quinlan Sims of Selma, NC; father, Preston Sims (Lois) of Raleigh, NC; father-in-law, Harry James of Selma, NC; four grandchildren, Jenaya Whitfield, Joseph Whitfield "Chico", Jayveon Morgan, and De'Kya McRimmon of Selma, NC; two sisters, Justine Sims Burridge (Terry) of Cary, NC and Mary Simms Jones of Pine Level, NC; three brothers, Larry Sims (Kaye) of Cary, NC, Alfred Sims (Rosa) of Orlando, Fl, and Anthony Scott Sims " Scott LA Rock" of Pine level, NC; a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, other family, and friends; a special aunt, Doris Frazier; a special cousin, Peggy Robertson; and a special brother, Reggie Sherrod " Bogart. " In my father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you I will come again and receive you unto myself that where I am there he may be also. John14: 2-3
