Obituary
On February 25th, 2025, our earth angel, Ky’Lah Monae Edwards completed her earthly assignment. From the day of her birth on May 22, 2007 she brought nothing but joy, happiness and unconditional love to her family and friends. From the very beginning there was always something a little unique and extra special about Ky’Lah. Her eyes were bright, warm, and welcoming that drew you in. And the biggest smile that brightened any room she was in. That was her way of captivating those who encountered her. The family believed it was her secret weapon. Every warrior has that special skill.
Life for Ky’Lah changed on September 18th, 2010, when Ky’Lah was diagnosed with Rett Syndrome, a rare neurological condition that affects one out of ten thousand girls. It was on this day a “Warrior Princess” was activated. With the many challenges facing Ky’Lah, she pushed through them in her way and with a fighting spirit. Ky’Lah attended East Clayton Elementary, Neuse River Middle and Knightdale High. She made lots of friends in her own way. And her friends, teachers and special school assistants adored her.
Ky’Lah enjoyed special time with family. She loved watching tv with Family Matters being one of her favorites. She loved cuddling with her dad and papa. She absolutely loved good food.
In Ky’Lah’s seventeen years on earth, she taught her family so much. The way she depended on her family and friends to take care of her. We as believers are to totally depend on God for all our needs. Jeremiah 17:7-8:
"But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him; they will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream."
Ky’Lah to cherish her beautiful and unforgettable memories to her parents, a faithful “girl dad” and a “doting mom,” Rodell and Shaquana Edwards, two loving siblings, Kameron, and Kallie Edwards all of the home. Ky’Lah's dedicated grandparents, Elder Gregory Rodell and Jeannetta Edwards; Regina Smith and Cordell Johnson. 3 loving aunts; Stacey, Asia, and Myiesha, 1 uncle; Joshua and a host of loving great aunts, uncles and cousins.
Her wonderful Godmother; Clara Williams, two amazing caregivers; Ms. Ruth Jimenez, and Ms.Donna Sosa.
We are going to miss Ky’Lah’s physical presence.
