Jose Elias Andrade Munguia

July 20, 1943 — August 2, 2021

Elias Andrade, 78, of Smithfield, NC, formerly of Morristown, NJ passed away on August 2nd at Johnson Medical Center after a valiant battle with lung cancer.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation service which will be on Friday, August 6th from 6:30-9:30pm at the Sanders Funeral home in Smithfield, North Carolina. All Visitors are encouraged to wear face coverings.

Elias was born in La Masica, Honduras on July 20th, 1943. He married Elvira on August 3, 1968. Elias worked for the Honduran aeronautics as a ham radio operations tech. He immigrated to the US in 1969 and became a certified HVAC operator where he worked with Volpe Electric for 8 years and then Morristown Medical Center until his retirement.

He was an amazing amateur radio operator who could send and receive up to 32 words a minute in Morse Code. He also loved to tinker and fix anything mechanical in his spare time and could often be found spending his free time reading "La Prensa" newspaper at "Two Guys Marble."

Elias is predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Elvira Andrade who passed away in July of 2020 and by his sister Carmen Zelaya in May 2021, and his brother Abraham in 1968.

Elias Andrade is survived by son Christian, daughter-in-law Michelle and granddaughter Amelia. Sister-in-law Maria Quiles, nephew Henry Zelaya Andrade and wife Merys Zelaya with nieces Norma Zelaya Andrade, Carmen Zelaya Andrade, Jenny C. Zelaya Andrade, nephew Olvin Zelaya Andrade and nephew Wilfredo Zelaya Andrade and niece Sandra King, niece Diana and husband Matthew Carmel, niece Caroline Quiles and Jorge Vizueta and niece Carmela Rivera. Nephew Joseph Quiles and wife Dawn and nephew Mario Quiles along with a host of loving great nieces, great nephews and other family and friends.

Sobrino Joseph Quiles y esposa Dawn y sobrino Mario Quiles junto con una gran cantidad de amorosas sobrinas nietas, sobrinos nietos y otros familiares y amigos.
