Jessie Lee Hooks

Jessie Lee Hooks, 69, departed this life on February 7, 2023, at Magnolia Creek Assisted Living Facility in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
He was born in Smithfield, NC on April 10, 1953, to the late Melvin (CJ) and Ardell Hooks. Jessie attended Johnston County Public Schools. After graduating he served in the U.S. Army and was discharged with honors.
Jessie enjoyed working with his hands. He worked as an electrician and carpenter and loved working on houses. Jessie always enjoyed family gatherings and attended all that he could. At the end of every phone call, he was sure to say, "Tell everybody I love them."
Jessie was preceded in death by his father, CJ, mother, Ardell, and his two brothers, Bobby and Melvin Hooks.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving son Darien Prather (Eboni), granddaughter, Harmony Prather-Brinkley, and grandson, Ayden Prather of Raleigh, NC; sisters Elizabeth Stancil (James) of Selma, NC, Rena Peacock of Smithfield, NC, Linda Haley of Smithfield, NC, Nicole Lane (Cowana) of Smithfield, NC; brother, Frenchie Hooks of Smithfield, NC; sisters-in-law, Rebecca Hooks of Four Oaks, NC, Janice Hooks of Four Oaks, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
