Jerry Mark Williamson

Jerry Mark Williamson (known to loved ones as "Sonny") was born in Chicago, Illinois on October 12, 1955 to the late James and Marie Williamson. Sonny was baptized at Saint Ann Catholic Church and raised in a Catholic environment. He was the fourth of twelve children, which instilled responsibility and made him family oriented at an early age.

A year after graduating from Dusable High School, Sonny enlisted in the Navy in 1977 and on October 30, 1980 he wed Loretta (Mazyck) Williamson and started building his family. While in the Navy, Sonny traveled the globe seven times! One of his favorite countries was Africa, he even dreamed about living there permanently. While active in the Navy, Sonny served in the Persian Gulf War, received two Sea Service Deployment Medals, one Indian Ocean Medal, a Barber license and was on the Navy Boxing Team where he competed with other military branches. After twenty years, he tired from the Navy and worked various jobs. His last job c mployment was Town of Cary where he retired after 17 year:

Sonny loved to cook, listen to old school R&B music (especially Motown), read books and write poetry. He had a passion for African American history and always kept up with current events. He adored children and they all adored him back, they always referred to him as their favorite uncle. Sonny was an unforgettable soul; he was funny, charismatic and hardworking. He never forgot a birthday or holiday and always knew how to make people feel special.

On May 13, 2026 Sonny gained his wings flying to eternal rest and peace. Sonny's body may no longer be here, but his spirit and memory lives within us all forever! Preceded in his death by his parents James and Marie Williamson; sisters Vienna and Marie Williamson; brothers Michael and Erick Williamson; niece Cynthia Yvonne Williamson and nephews Maurice Williamson and Joshua Lyn

Sonny leaves behind to carry his legacy: wife Loretta Williamson; children Derrick Williamson, Tijwana Williamson and Natasha (William) Henry; grandchildren Raekwon Williamson, Rashia Williamson, Brianna Williamson, King William Henry, Empress Henry and Goddess Henry; four great - grandchildren; siblings James Williamson, Rosie Linda Williamson, June Ann Williamson, Anthony Williamson, Carl Williamson, Audrey Yvette Williamson and Barbara Jean Williamson; sister-in-law Dyann Hudson; brothers-in-law James Mazyck Jr. and Henri Mazyck, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
