Listen to Obituary

On September 21, 1989, in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, Jenny Mabel Colón Rodriguez was born. She immigrated to the United States as a teenager and graduated from Smithfield-Selma Senior High School with the Class of 2009. As time went on, Jenny made her home in Clinton, North Carolina, where she worked at Smithfield. Jenny was a skilled soccer player who amassed many trophies, and she was also an avid traveler. As blessed as she was to experience France, Colombia, Puerto Rico, Mexico, The Dominican Republic, Brazil, and more, these countries were equally blessed by her presence.

Jenny continues to live on through her extensive loved ones, including her father, Victor Colón; her stepmother, Ella Lambert; and her five sisters: Oneyda, Denise, Ina, Dorothy, and Halla. She was a beloved aunt to her nephews and niece, including Denzel, Josh, Carlos, Chris, and Hadassah. Her aunts include Margarita, Mariana, Victoria, Antonia, and Paula. While her grandmother Fernanda and her uncle Gregorio preceded her in death, her uncles Francim, Celso, and Fuljencio continue her legacy. Lastly, her many cousins in Honduras and her cousins here—including Lezman, Eva, Adan, and Noé—will carry her in their hearts, as will her many friends who will always remember the wit and spontaneity with which she won the hearts of everyone she met.

The Colón family asks that you continue to take Jenny’s joy with you wherever you go. See as many countries as possible. Attend soccer games in her memory. Live fearlessly, laugh and smile often, and love deeply.
