George Walter Sanders, Jr. was born on March 13, 1950, in Dunn,

North Carolina, to George Walter Sanders, Sr. and Annie Judkins Sanders. He departed this life on June 14, 2026, at Clayton Rehabilitation Center.

George grew up in Harnett and Johnston Counties. He attended Hill Side School in Benson, North Carolina, where he enjoyed participating on the gymnastics team, one of his favorite activities. He spent much of his life working on a farm, a profession he took great pride in. In his youth, George joined Johnson Grove Holiness Church and remained steadfast in his faith.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolina Sanders; his sister, Etta Joyce Covington; and his brothers, Larry D. Sanders, Deacon Kenneth Sanders, Elijah Sanders, and Bishop Jacob Sanders.

George leaves to cherish his memory his sisters, Teressa (James) Smith of Raleigh, North Carolina; Geneva Covington of Smithfield, North Carolina; and Evan (Dennis) Stroud of Benson, North Carolina.

He also leaves his brothers, Cardel Sanders of Smithfield, North Carolina;

Lester Sanders of Clayton, North Carolina; Ricky Sanders of Angier, North Carolina; and Tab (Maria) Sanders of Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina.

He leaves his son, Tyrone Sanders of Angier, North Carolina; his special aunt, Louise Hampton; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends who will cherish his memory forever.
