THE LASTING LEGACY “Well done, good and faithful servant.

”Ernest Todd Thompson, lovingly known as Todd, was born March 19, 1965,

in Queens, New York, to Ernest Roy and Shirley Deloise Thompson. From

an early age, Todd was raised in a Christian, faith filled home where the

values of faith, love, service, and prayer were instilled in him.

As a child, Todd attended Gospel Temple Church of America Inc. in

Harlem, New York, where he was active in Sunday School, the youth choir,

and the music ministry. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior

at the age of 13. Faith was the ultimate cornerstone of Todd’s life.

Todd received his early education in the New York Public School System.

He continued his education in North Carolina at Smithfield Selma Senior

High School and later graduated from Johnston Technical College with

an Associate’s Degree in Electronics. During these years, he was known

for his charisma, kindness, and leadership. From an early age, Todd never

met a stranger. He made a friend wherever he went.

For the last 25 years of his life, Todd served faithfully alongside his brother

as an ordained deacon at The Watering Hole Church in Smithfield, North

Carolina. Todd worked diligently on the Deacon’s Board, in the men’s

ministry, mission work, and the music ministry. Todd was an avid and

skilled bass player. Every Sunday he would make the service “jump” with

his smooth, melodic, old school praise runs.

Todd was the epitome of an encourager. He often inspired and motivated

others. He had wisdom beyond his years and believed strongly in prayer,

compassion, and his faith and trust in Christ Jesus.

Todd was the owner and operator of Brothers In God Technologies (B.I.G.

Techs) for over 30 years, where he employed family, friends, and anyone

who needed a job. He approached work with integrity and dedication,

believing that every task was an opportunity to display excellence while

serving God and others.

Todd was a loving father and father figure to many. He was a devoted

son, brother, and uncle. He cherished every moment spent with family

and friends. Family gatherings were always filled with laughter and great

storytelling.

Todd was preceded in death by his parents, Pastor Ernest Roy and Shirley

Deloise Thompson.

Ernest Todd Thompson leaves to cherish his precious memory his

daughter, Kristin Briscoe; brother, Bishop Terrence Thompson (Denise);

nephews, Justin Thompson (Imani and Bryce) and Micah Thompson;

niece, Zoe Thompson; aunt, Callis Hilliard; and a host of cherished family

and friends.

Though we mourn his loss, we rejoice in the promise of eternal life

through Christ. Todd has finished the race. Todd kept the faith. Now Todd

rests in the presence of the Lord.
