Ella Mae Blackmon Walker

January 30, 1931 — February 27, 2019

Our hearts were saddened early Wednesday m o r n i n g
February 27th, 2019 by the passing of our loved one Ella Mae
Blackmon Walker, who departed this life at Woodlands Nursing
Home in Fayetteville, NC.
Ella the eldest of 4 siblings was born January 30th, 1931
in Smithfield, NC to the late Georgianna Terrell & Edward
Blackmon Sr. At an early age she accepted Jesus Christ as her
Lord and Savior. Ella received her education through Johnston
County Training School and graduated in 1949. After
graduation she relocated to Knoxville, TN for 67 years before
returning back to North Carolina in 2016.
Ella married the love of her life Melvin Walker Jr April
1969 and dedicated her life as a military wife. Ella joined First
AME Zion church in Knoxville, TN where she served as a
faithful member on the Missionary Board, Stewardess Board,
Parent Body Missionary Society, President Pastors Aide,
President Kitchen Committee, President of Calendar Club,
Sunday School Member and Usher Board Member.
Ella was an excellent cook and would cook any and
everything, you name it she could make it. She enjoyed feeding
family and friends and loved to host catered parties to show off
her cooking skills.
Ella never had any biological children but help raise her
siblings, and through her working years with various families
she was able to help raise many others. Ella was a proud bonus
mom and she was able to see some of them off to college as
well as get married and raise their own families
Ella joined the heavenly streets of gold with her husband
Melvin, parents Georgianna & Edward, Sister Dorothy, Brother
Edward and Brother in law Thomas. She leaves loving
memories with:
