Doris J. Windley, 76 passed away peacefully on June 9, 2026, at UNC Hospice in Smithfield, NC. She was born January 2, 1950, in Philadelphia, PA.

Doris was a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and faithful servant of Jehovah. She lived a life of love, faith, family, laughter, and service.

Doris graduated from Shaw University in 1985 and carried a creative spirit. She was an artist, wonderful cook, and a woman who found joy in simple things. She loved to laugh, loved to talk, and gave hugs freely. Her warmth could be felt before she ever said a word.

On December 18, 2004, Doris was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Salisbury, NC. She loved sharing her faith and would witness to anyone within earshot, finding joy in talking about Jehovah, the Bible, and the hope that gave her strength. She inspired many with her enthusiasm for worship, her tenacious support, and a ready sense of humor.

In 1979, Doris moved from Philadelphia to Morehead City to help care for her mother. A caregiver by nature, she often did for others before herself. She stayed busy even when she was not doing anything, always finding someone to help, something to cook, something to say, or someone to love.

Doris was preceded in death by her mother, Marguerite Sudler, and her brother, Milton Harris Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Novella Wilson-Green (son-in-law Eric), and Marguerite Lynch-Taylor; her sons, Milton Lynch, Anthony Reels Jr., and Willie Windley III; 12 grandchildren, Marcello Wilson, James Wilson, Michael Wilson, Jeremy Wilson, Erica Green, Krista Green, Kingston Green, Naomi Lynch, Aliza Taylor, Elijah Smith, Ian Lynch, and Jahsiah Windley;

19 great-grandchildren; her uncle, Larry Butler (Charlene), her aunt, sister-in-law, Linda Harris, her nephews,

Michael Harris and Penton Wilson and a host of cherished relatives, spiritual brothers and sisters, and dear friends.
