OBITUARY
“Mutt” Laster was born on April 3, 1968, in Littleton, NC, to the
late Floyd and Ethel Watson Laster. He peacefully departed this life on August
28, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories.
Donald was the tenth of eleven children born to this union.
He received his early education at Melver Elementary and later attended
Northwest High School. From a young age, Donald showed a strong work
ethic, often helping with his family
’
s agricultural work. At just sixteen, he
proudly embraced his independence by purchasing a Carolina Blue Chevelle.
Donald was known for his many talents and interests. He loved cooking,
singing, drawing, and dancing. He enjoyed music, fishing, and basketball, but
most of all, he treasured time spent with his family. He also had a passion for
working on cars, riding dirt bikes and motorcycles, and exploring new skills.
Over the years, Donald worked in many fields, gaining hands-on experience in
construction, machinery operation, scrap yard work, furniture moving, and
truck driving. He was highly skilled with heavy equipment, carpentry,
plumbing, and landscaping. His generosity and willingness to help others left a
lasting impact on his community.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Julius (Geraldine) Laster of
Littleton, NC; Ivory (Sandra) Laster of Selma, NC; Melvin Watson; and
Nehemiah Laster of Littleton, NC.

Donald leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Teresa Ann Laster, and their
children: Gabrielle (Shavon) Whitaker, Orielle (Aavione) Laster Johnson, Briana
(Stevie) Laster Scott, Jeffery Sanders, Shakirah Sanders of Raleigh, NC, Michael
Sanders, Shequandra Sanders of Selma, NC, Tracy Geddie (Quincy McCullers) of
Princeton, NC, and Christopher Currie of Selma, NC.
He is also survived by his brothers: Floyd Laster, Jr., Edward (Brandy) Lassiter of
Bunn, NC, Lenard (Josephine) Laster of Littleton, NC, and Jasper Laster of
Littleton, NC; his sister, Teresa K. Laster of Littleton, NC; fourteen grandchildren;
his brothers-in-law, Gary Sanders (Christine) of Middlesex, NC, and Sammy Davis
(Lisa) of Princeton, NC; his mother-in-law, Hattie Raynor of Selma, NC; and a host
of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.

“Mutt” Laster will forever be remembered as a loving husband, devoted
father, gifted worker, and kindhearted friend. His presence touched many lives, and
his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
