Carl was born on December 26, 1959, and was raised in Black Creek, North Carolina, by his late parents, Vivian and Percy Baines Sr. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend, but his most cherished role was being a grandfather, lovingly known as “PaPa.”Carl touched the lives of many through his kindness, strength, unwavering love, and laughter. He was a lifelong tradesman, and through his skills, he built a place that brought people together from all walks of life to fellowship, exchange wisdom, and celebrate accomplishments and milestones.

Carl Baines was preceded in death by his father, Percy Baines Sr.; his mother, Vivian Pope Baines; his brother, Wesley Baines Sr.; his sister, Mary Bell Baines; his daughter’s, Syretta Bryant and Baby Battle.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory his wife, Patricia “Red” Battle; his children, Shanita McAllister (Tim), Tequila “Keke” Battle (Calvin), Tiffine Phillips (Jerome), Tiesha Battle (Tevin), and Shaquille Battle (Dacarrius); and his siblings, Percy Baines Jr. (Ann), Shirley Hooker (Willie Gray), Willie Baines, Henry Baines (Priscilla), Diann Clay, Gloria Atkinson (Fred), Beatrice Taylor, Raymond Baines (Minnie), Christopher Baines (Jackie), Greg Baines (Veronica), and Marvin Baines (Latisha).

He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, William Bumpers (Jasmine), Chassity Bumpers, Zacchaeus McAllister, Miranda McAllister, Amanda McAllister, Darreon Battle, Danasha “Nunk Nunk” Battle, Takyah Currie, Noah Phillips, Shadiamond Spearin, Tristen Phillips, Ziairha Douglas, Zanyah Battle, Zi’meir Battle, Ryan Scott, Shy’darius Roberson, Shy’dasia Roberson, and Shy’keem Roberson; four great-grandchildren, with another blessing on the way; and a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives, and dear friends.

Carl will be remembered as a man of his word, known for his generosity, kind spirit, and joyful, joking nature. Through all of life’s challenges, he kept his faith in God.
