DEACON BRANDON SHAWNTE HOWELL, SR.was born on April 17, 1981. He departed this life on Tuesday, May 19, 2026. He was married to the true love of his life, Brandi Shavon Howell for 23 years and together for 25. Brandon was a loving husband, father, son, grandson, grandfather, godfather, brother, son-in-law, brother-in-law, uncle, nephew, cousin, deacon and friend. Brandon attended Smithfield-Selma Senior High School and received his CDL Class A license from Wayne Community College in Goldsboro, NC. He was a faithful member of First Missionary Baptist Church, Wilson’s Mills, NC, where he was an ordained Deacon and was the Chairman of the Deacon Board. He was a member of the Male Choir, Praise Team, Gospel Choir, Usher Board and was the President of the Sound Team Committee. He was a Sunday School Teacher and was a member of the Layman’s League. He worked tirelessly in the church and community. He was one of the founding members of Winners United League of Leaders Community Changers, whose focus was community outreach and creating leaders in the community.
Brandon was employed by Waste Management Industries (Stericycle), Raleigh, NC as a driver and swing trainer for the collection of biohazardous waste materials. He was also employed part-time at The Car Park in Raleigh, NC as a Traffic Control Officer. He was previously employed with Epps Trucking Company as well as Love’s in Kenly, NC.Brandon was on the Board of Directors for Wilson’s Mills Parks and Recreation. He was a basketball coach with Parks and Rec and started a mentorship program for boys in the community. He focused on teaching them life skills and becoming good citizens. Brandon enjoyed singing, cooking, (especially grilling), and spending time with his family. He loved the Lord and was dedicated to being a servant of the Lord. Brandon loved sports and was a die-heart UNC Carolina Basketball Fan and Philadelphia Eagles!
Brandon leaves to cherish his memories, his beautiful wife, Brandi of the home, one daughter, Shytiana Alford, Knightdale, NC two sons, Brandon, Jr. (BJ) and Bryson also of the home and godson, JoDavin White. His mother, Angela Reid (James), Archers Lodge, NC, his father, Greg Howell (Linda), Princeton, NC. Two grandchildren, Aubree and Austin and his maternal grandmother, Janet Poston, Wilson’s Mills, NC. Three sisters, Haley ReidEason (Marque), Brianna George and Desiree Atkinson. Mother-in-Laws, Jacqueline Bradshaw, Raleigh, NC and Jeanine Satterfield, Cottageville, SC. Three Aunts, Annette Howell, Durham, NC, Lateshia Poston, Wilson’s Mills, NC, LaToya Carter (George), Raleigh, NC. Four sisters-in-law, Laquana Dumas, Knightdale, Shanique Dumas Garden, N. Charleston, SC, Mertisa Tucker, Charlotte, NC, and Sheerah Dixon (Neal), Raleigh NC;four brothers-in-law, Tavarius Bass (Sarah), Jacksonville, FL, Nahshon Langston, Selma, NC, Rashad Bradshaw, Jacksonville, FL and Abiyah Bradshaw, Jacksonville, FL. Nine Uncles, Rodney Poston (Cassandra), Clayton, NC, Eric Poston (Janice), Wilson’s Mills, Kelvin Poston (Fonda), Smithfield, NC, Shawn Kirby, Raleigh, NC, Eric Kirby, Washington, DC, Keith Howell (Elmira), Selma, NC, Jeff Howell, Selma, NC, Earl Howell, Selma, NC, Dion Howell, Selma, NC. He is preceded in death by his younger brother Cameron Howell (Tameka), paternal grandmother, Mrs. Rochelle Howell, paternal grandfather, Mr. Leonard Howell, and maternal grandfathers, Mr. Willie Poston and Mr. Elroy Kirby. A host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
