The Obituary Annette Watson Lee was born in Smithfield, North Carolina on October 16, 1930, to Vera Watson and George W. Thomlinson. She departed this life on Thursday, June 24, 2021, in Wilson County Memorial Hospital. Annette attended Johnston County Public Schools and graduated in June 1949. Annette married the late Alphonso Lee on December 6, 1951. Shortly thereafter, they left North Carolina and moved to New York City. She worked for the NYC Department of Social Services for many years and after retiring, moved back to North Carolina with her school-aged son Malcolm. After returning to North Carolina, she worked in the retail industry for a period; took courses in Early Childhood Education to become a certified Teacher's Aide, and was employed by a local daycare center working with pre-school and school-aged children. Annette was a talented seamstress and enjoyed sewing clothing for herself and her children. Additionally, she was an enthusiastic crafter and attended and completed various courses in furniture upholstery and artificial flower arranging. She spent many hours of enjoyment latch hooking rugs, creating artificial flower arrangements, and re-upholstering furniture for family and friends. Annette was a loving and generous person, always willing to extend assistance to anyone that needed help. She leaves to cherish her memory: son Malcolm, daughters Alfreda and Yvette, granddaughter Iman, grandson Andrik, niece Barbara, daughter-in-law Tina, son-in-law Larry, best friend Lucille Jones, the Burns family, and an extended family of cousins and friends. The journey home will reunite her with lifelong friend Alonzetta Burns (deceased) and youngest daughter Bernadette Lee (deceased).
